Kuala Lumpur Bird Park: One of the World's Largest

19th September 2023

KL Bird Park, nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur within the sprawling Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, stands as a renowned eco-tourism haven. Housing a diverse community of 3,000 birds representing 200 distinct species, this sanctuary boasts a distinctive attribute that sets it apart – the captivating concept of free-flight.

Established in 1991, KL Bird Park’s verdant expanse spans approximately 20.9 acres of lush valley terrain, seamlessly integrated into the 130-acre Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens. The park is thoughtfully divided into four zones: Zones 1 and 2 form the free flight zone, Zone 3 hosts the Hornbill Park, and Zone 4 accommodates birds within separate cages and miniature aviaries.

What truly distinguishes KL Bird Park is its unique approach to aviary design. In Zones 1, 2, and 3, birds roam freely in aviaries designed to closely emulate their natural habitats. This ingenious free-flight concept not only creates a more natural and enriching environment for the birds but also fosters natural breeding within the park.

Offering an affordable educational experience, the park welcomes Malaysians with an entrance fee of just RM35 for adult Mykad holders, while children and senior citizens can explore this avian wonderland for RM15. A visit to KL Bird Park provides an opportunity to discover and appreciate the rich diversity of birdlife in Malaysia.
